The Goddess Experiment, Day 3: Kali Kicks Ass

KALI KICKS ASS

Kali Goddess
Kali is called: The Dark Mother. The Black Goddess. The Ferocious One. The Gentle Mother. The Goddess of Time & Change. She is all of this. And so am I, when I’m at my most truth-full. Ruthless Compassion…Sacred Dramatic.

Some days you wield your sword with might, without apology. Some days you anoint the messiest of wounds with the most tender touch.

The power is in the courage to do what needs to be done for right action, for healing, for ultimate harmony.

Zen in the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance captures the Kali duality the best: “Kali represents the entire physical plane. She is the drama, tragedy, humor, and sorrow of life. She is the brother, father, sister, mother, lover, and friend. She is the fiend, monster, beast, and brute. She is the sun and the ocean. She is the grass and the dew. She is our sense of accomplishment and our sense of doing worthwhile. Our thrill of discovery is a pendant on her bracelet. Our gratification is a spot of color on her cheek. Our sense of importance is the bell on her ankle. The full and seductive, terrible and wonderful earth mother always has something to offer.”

What is The Goddess Experiment? I’m wondering what will shift or bloom or go bust in my psyche if I very intentionally envision God in female form. For the next 21 days, including weekends, I’m going to actively re-frame He into She. His Highness into Her Highness. I’m collecting images that speak to me of God-dess.

Please join in. I may post what you send. Just to…see.

The Power of Pretend.

Our business is founded on the power of inquiry. For those of you who’ve had a Style Statement session or read the book, you know how illuminating simple questions can be. Every once and a while we encounter the “I don’t know,” pattern with a client. Before they actually reply to each question, they casually, almost unconsciously say, “Well, I don’t know…” For some of us, the “I don’t know” buffer is more than a reflex. It’s a deep and binding groove that holds fulfillment at bay.

Here’s a handy lever for getting out of the “Dunno Rut”: PRETEND THAT YOU DO KNOW. Yep, fake it. Trick your subconscious. Play with your mind. Dunno what you want more of in your life? Well, what if you did know? Dunno what’s around the corner? Pretend that you do – and dare yourself to plan accordingly.

THIS WEEK:What’s one thing you’re feeling confused, perplexed or befuddled about? Pretend for a moment that you are all knowing and all sensing, and give yourself some profound insight. Make up some wisdom - just like a wise, straight-shootin’ friend would do for you.

You won’t always get it right. But playing wise with yourself is the beginning of real mastery. We’re certain of it.

Be Curious.

If knowledge is power, than curiosity is the muscle.

Focus is a fabulous force. Tho’ sometimes, it’s good to blur the lines and depart from your expertise, your skill set and what you think you know so well. Many a great discovery has come from accidental encounters and seemingly unrelated interests.

THIS WEEK: Pick 3 subjects that you have no interest in whatsoever or that you’re actually slightly adverse to. Do it right now. Say… Knitting, military history, extraterrestrial intelligence, extreme sports, pop art. Now, do a quick internet search on each area. Be curious when you enter each new world. Don’t leave until you’ve learned something that you didn’t know before.

And then ask yourself:

What does learning feel like?>
