Budget Planner, Setting Up a Family Budget

Budgeting, Money, Wealth | February 1st, 2010

Through a budget planner you’re going to be able to have a budget that’s going to allow control over your families spending and you’ll have enough money leftover so you can pay your bills and still enjoy saving through some money for a vacation or other wants.

Following these steps will get you on your way:

  1. Take three months worth of your paychecks and average these out for a monthly income total
  2. Now take three months of your bills and average these out so you have an idea of your monthly expenses. Make sure you include everything, these are going to be your rent/mortgage, utilities and other fixed cost items you’re paying every month
  3. Take three months of your other expenses and do the same. These are going to be things like your groceries, clothes, credit card bills and more.
  4. Take some time and evaluate your expenses. You’re going to want to take some time for this and figure out the opportunities that you have where you can economize a little bit and cut your expenses down a little bit. The places and the areas that you can cut down on both and make it happen
  5. Develop the amount of money that you’re going to be spending on everything each month and make sure that you stick with it
  6. Any leftover income that you have you’ll want to take and set up a savings account for an emergency fund. You can do these through a savings account, the purchase of certificates of deposit, putting into your 401k or IRA and take the money and start making regular deposits into this account
  7. Finally you’ll want to track the income and track your expense and look every month and make sure you evaluate how well your plan is actually working. If there is some fine tuning that needs to be done and make sure that you make the adjustments and you’re on your way to being within your budget and staying with it
