Making a printable budget planner for your family budget is something that can help you both organize the finances in your home and be able to manage spending in order to reduce both financial debt and help to start developing a plan for future savings.

There are some quick considerations and then some easy steps to get this done:

  1. First you’ll need to make a decision on the schedule for your family budget. If you’re a two income family you might want to set your sheet up according to your pay period or you could do it bi-weekly
  2. Second you’ll need to locate a printable worksheet that you like using Excel. If you don’t have Excel and don’t want to pay for it you can download a version for free from http:/www.openoffice.org
  3. Now you’re going to need to write down all the sources of your family’s income. This is going to include anything from the salary to bonuses, any investments or money from other business interests
  4. After that you’ll need to list all of the fixed expenses. The fixed expenses are going to be things like your rent/mortgage, insurance, school tuitions, etc…
  5. Next you’re going to list out the other family needs like the phone, cable, groceries and utilities. These are the variable expenses and are things that you purchase regularly but the amounts are going to vary
  6. Following that you’ll divide all of your other family expenses into categories such as, home, auto, personal, entertainment, other and keep track of these as discretionary income on your worksheet
  7. You’ll need to make a column for both projected amounts and another for actual amounts so you can see how the two are coming together
  8. Finally you’ll subtract your projected expenses from the projected income so you can adjust and make the cuts where you might need to and then you’re ready to start putting in actual printable numbers into your family budget

Now that you’ve made your budget worksheet you’re well on your way to being a budgeted family but the key is to both consistently use and it and follow it.
