Budget Planner, Making a Family Budget Work
A budget planner to get your family house in order takes a group effort but can be done.
Putting everyone into the mix lets everyone feel like they have a part and that they are responsible for the things that are going on in the house even if they aren’t contributing to the money itself. Make sure that you bring the children in even if they are younger. You shouldn’t of course let them have the final say in things but you should let them give their input and watch you how you’re putting it all together.
The family budget needs to contain the following three core things:
- How much money is coming in
- Where does that money have to go
- What needs to be done with any excess money
An Ongoing Process
No budget is going to work and do any good if it’s not abided by and that is for everyone at all times. It’s going to be ineffective if dad follows the budget but mom lets the kids spend money with uncontrolled abandon.
Also once you make your budget it’s not something that you do once and never look at again. As things are changing so should your budget. It’s a constantly changing, constantly ongoing and constantly evolving process. You should visit it at least quarterly.
If the family has something new that it has to purchase like a new washer or something else the budget is going to need to be adjusted as with anything that is a major purchase for the family. All necessities should be run through the budget not just simply purchased. This is going to make sure that the financial house is kept in order and the family continues to work effectively as a team.
