Making a budget planner for free that you can print it to make it easier to track wherever you go is so easy to create yourself. You can use it to track all of your budget needs for no more cost than just your time.
You’ll be well on your way through following these steps:
- Download your template that you want to use. You can find something online or create it using Excel. If you don’t have Excel you can get it for free from Open Office or by using Google Documents, Open Office can be found at http://www.openoffice.org
- You’ll need to list out your monthly income as well as any other income you have at the top of your worksheet
- After you’re going to need to divide your monthly bills as well as any other spending needs that you have into separate category columns
- You’re going to want to list your monthly budget categories out by their degree of importance. You’ll first start with the fixed expenses that have to be paid every month and then you’ll list out the needs for the rest of the family and keep any personal spending to the end
- Make sure to put in a category for savings/emergency funds and set the amount of money that you’re going to be able to put to this per month (the quickest way to get in debt and your budget out of control is an unexpected expense)
- Next you’ll need to list out any other expenses that you’re going to be able to cut back totally or at least decrease so you can notice some other areas that you can save money
- After that you’ll subtract your monthly expenses from the starting income and you’ll get that printable balance and the bottom of your worksheet
There are two final thoughts:
- When you’re estimating amounts for your income and expenses you’ll need to be realistic with yourself and be sure to use conservative figures
- Finally evaluate your needs so you can see if there are adjustments that you can make so you can put more money to your emergency funds or to other areas that need to have it
