Best Sunless Tanning Lotion
Recent studies showed that any effective tanning product should have dihydroxyacetone-also known as DHA- in it. Basically it is a colorless sugar substance which chemically reacts with the dead cells located in the epidermis resulting in changing the color of your skin. Due to this chemical reaction, the skin color is changed for five to seven days.
Since everybody generates dead cells on a regular basis it is impossible for a tan to last more than a few days, human body rejects the dead cells on a period from 35 to 45 days which means that any artificial tan will eventually be lost with the torn skin. It is strongly advised that you use lotions every now and then to keep the tan on. Providing similar results just like the DHA comes the amino acid tyrosine. Similar to the DHA, the amino acid tyrosine is used in tanning accelerators in all its forms lotions or pills scientists claim it stimulate the tan and increase its duration over the skin as it urges the body to produce more melanin resulting in decreasing the tanning process time. Nevertheless there is no scientific proof for its effect.
Canthaxanthin is used as color additive in the food industry with very small quantities but it is involved in sunless tanning pills also, it reacts with the body and after the blood consumes it the remaining is deposited all over the body resulting in an orange brown color. The Canthaxanthin is used in food industry with small quantities with no harm done but it is being used with large quantities in sunless tanning products resulting in disapproval of its usage due to side effects, it may cause hepatitis or canthaxanthin retinopathy where the retina of the eye is polluted with yellow deposits. A very simple way to get a tan is done using bronzer; simply it’s applied on skin in a powder form similar to make up easily washed with soup and water. Its effect is similar to a stain of oil on your skin. Mostly this type of tanning methods is used for one time like a special occasion. Unless it is containing sunscreen, any type of these products won’t reflect the harmful sun UVA and UVB rays.
Usually it’s advised to use extra sunscreen beside the product itself because the amount of sunscreen inside the product is so small to last on your skin so it won’t work for a long time.
