Best Sunless Tan

Beauty, Style, Sunless tanning | August 17th, 2009 No comments

It may be convenient to use a salon tanning, but that doesn’t mean it lasts any longer than at home products. Especially since you need to reapply the tan typically once a week the cost adds up to far more than most people can pay, while at home formulas are considerably less expensive. One formula, Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gelinfo costs approximately $30 for 4.4 ounces, and also scores high on reviews. It only has one shade but this shade works well on all skin tones, most users also agree that it is both easy touse, and streak-free. The only complaint that people do have about this product is that it is as well fairly expensive.

Typically, the majority of complaints come from fair skinned people, as they tend to have some of the greatest difficulty with self tanning. Even Jurgen’s Natural Glow, which has 3 shades available had mixed results from fair skinned men and women. Complaints included doing nothing, or seeming to be too orange, while others had very successful results. It is important to experiment in this regard.

One other problem with sunless tanning is that it can take a long time to dry off, and if you dress too soon you could stain your cloths. Foam formulas are the fastest drying and should this be a concern you should consider using it. The St. Tropez Whipped Bronze Mouse, an estimated $37 for 8 ounces, is called ‘goof proof’ by some reviewers as it not only dries fast, but is tinted so that you can see easily where you have and have not applied it. Unfortunately, foam tanners occasionally are too fast drying for some people, so find the right speed for your own comfort. There are many other tinted lotions to choose from, including the St. Tropez Tinted Self Tanning Lotion, estimated at $37.50 for 8 ounces, which has recommendations from magazines such as InStyle and Elle. St. Tropez is also based with aloe vera, so it doesn’t feel greasy or quick drying.

There are also misters which rest just between foams and lotions, drying more quickly than lotions, but slower than foams, this middle grounds is important for people who may not want to wait as long but do not want to risk drying before they are ready. Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray is estimated at $10.00 for 5.3 ounces, cheaper than the above mentioned it also has reviews from Prevention Magazine, it is easy to use, and doesn’t stain since it is colorless. While it is advertised as rub free, a reviewer from Washington Post indicates that rubbing it in would give a more even tan. Unfortunately it does have a strong scent, so leaving some windows open would be recommended.
