Benefits of exercise bikes

The fitness bug has bitten everybody and people from all walks of life have started exercising. From building a complete home gym, to buying a select few exercising equipment, fitness purchases are increasing. It is no longer seen as a hobby or as something which a select few people indulge in. it is now seen as a necessity. Out of all home exercise equipment available for exercising, the exercise bikes are the most popular. They are light and easy to use. Many of the newer exercise bikes can be folded away easily, saving up on valuable space in a smaller home.

The stationary exercise bike is the best way to exercise at one’s convenience and comfort in the familiar surroundings of one’s own home. These bikes are one of the best sources of fitness exercises and are easy to use, and are a fairly good way to burn fat through exercise. However, because this exercise only involves the leg and buttocks muscles over a small range of motion they cannot burn many calories. In order to make these exercise bikes more effective for losing weight it is best to exercise on the stationary bike for a longer period of time and obtain the best fat burning benefits.

Some advantages of using exercise bikes are;

  • They are extremely convenient.
  • They can be used at home.
  • They are ideal for some people who are not used to exercising or are very overweight.

  • They have a very low injury risk to knees and ankles.
  • They make it easy to develop a rhythmic pace for much better fat burning.
  • They help develop a lot of leg strength.
  • Some of the air and fan assisted bikes help cool the skin while working out.

In many of the fitness industries and with many users, there is an extensive debate on which machines burn more calories and give a more useful cardio workout. Many people agree that a stationary bike has dual action to optimize the weight loss and build the heart health. The pumping of the arms has a big impact on the effectiveness of any workout, and because of this, a treadmill is not as effective as well, if one holds on to the hand supports rather than letting the arms swing and pumping them in rhythm to the motion of the exercise. In comparison to a treadmill, the exercise bike is a better alternative.

An exercise bike can give a great cardio work out. For both, men and women, it can give the lower body strength and flexibility, and a range of motion. To have the most positive effect on one’s health, the body must get a work out at least 3 days a week and for 20 minutes. Also, there should be a fair amount of warm-up period and cool down time. A good cardio workout can raise the heart rate 60-85 percent beyond the usual resting heart rate.
