Balance yourself with Chakra Meditation

Healing, Health & Wellness, Meditation | January 13th, 2010 No comments

When ever you feel out of sorts, as if there is some sort of imbalance in your system, there could be a distinct possibility that all is not right with your chakras. So what is a chakra? It is an energy center in your body like a wheel of light that is spinning. The seven main chakras in the body are the root chakra; sacral chakra; solar plexus chakra; heart chakra; throat chakra; third eye chakra; and crown chakra. When any of these chakras is not balanced, it throws the other chakras out of gear. You can balance these through chakra meditation.

Meditation offers dual benefits. On the one hand it is an effective way to assess if your chakras are balanced or not. On the other hand, it can be used to create balance between the chakras. Of course, the condition of your physical health will also provide indications of any imbalances in your body. If you don’t feel well, it means your chakras are not in balance. For instance, if you have a knee problem or weight issues, it is likely to be a problem with your root chakra.

Before you start chakra meditation, it is essential to go through grounding or centering process. You need to reach a state of deep relaxation before you practice any of the different techniques of meditation. One of the techniques is to meditate on each of the seven main chakras and how long you meditate will influence the outcome. The longer you meditate, the more comprehensive the benefits. Over a period of time you will be able to change certain habits, then the new habit gets established, then it becomes a part of you and finally, it transforms you.

You can also balance your chakras by practicing yoga. It is a healing practice that works on you mentally, physically and spiritually. Hailed by the ancients as a holistic healing technique, yoga has been adopted by practitioners worldwide. The poses, or asanas, in yoga are designed to increase the flexibility of the joints in the body and tone the muscles. Breathing, or Pranayama, helps to facilitate the flow of energy, thereby energizing the whole body. Meditation, or dhyana, calms the mind and makes you more focused, strengthening you spiritually.

Yoga is a disciplined practice, and although it is difficult at the beginning, it can very easily become such an important part of your life that you will find yourself missing it if you skip your regular practice even for a day.

Apart from yoga, crystals too are used for balancing the chakras. Crystal healing lends itself to three different types of balancing techniques, using different colored quartz crystals to energize and recharge the chakras. You should ideally meditate on your intentions after centering and grounding yourself. It is also very important to clear the crystals prior to using them. One of the methods of clearing crystals is to keep them immersed in sea salt for at least 24 hours. If you take these precautions, crystal healing for chakra balancing is very effective.
