Are Over the Counter Pills Effective in Treating Impotency?

Sexuality | November 17th, 2009

All you have to do is search on any search engine for impotency treatments and literally thousands of products will jump out at you. You will find everything from contraptions to topical gels, to pills. The internet is full of libido booster products that promise to treat your impotency problem completely, in no time at all. They make tall claims of further improving your sex life and increase male stamina apart from giving many other enticing hopes to people hoping to cure a sexual problem. However, it is important to remember to take these claims with a pinch of salt and not at their face value.

It is important to know that FDA does not monitor many of these products, especially herbal or organic products. This means that anyone can bottle pills, stick a label on it and sell it you as organic treatment for impotency. While many of these pills do not have any effect on the body, positive or negative, many others may actually affect your body adversely.

It is also important to remember that impotency is not a simple problem. It can be caused by a variety of different reasons and there are no one-pill-fit-all solutions available for this problem. Impotency may be caused by exposure to chronic stress which is very different from feeling a little ‘out of it’ after a particularly stressful day. Chronic stress can lead to long term impotency that has to be dealt with at a psychological problem.

On the other hand, impotency or lack of male stamina may be caused by chronic diseases like diabetes or cancer. A libido booster pill will not have any effect on these conditions and if these illnesses are neglected, they may prove fatal. That is why it is crucial to get to the very bottom of the problem and identify its source instead of just hoping to increase your libido by popping a pill.

Impotency may also be caused by deep seated psychological problems like depression, anxiety, guilt, self consciousness, lack of self confidence, etc. If a person with any one of these issues expected to solve their sexual problems by popping a pill, they will not only get o results, but this lack of results may further aggravate their psychological problem, making it much tougher to resolve.

As you can see, impotency has so many varied causes, that it is practically impossible to solve it by simply taking an over the counter treatment. In many cases, even isolating the source of the problem may prove to be difficult, let alone resolving it. That is why, it is highly recommended that you first consult your physician and go through a complete body check up to rule out any major illnesses. You may also want to consider meeting a psychologist in the absence of any other cause of impotence. Take the advice of qualified medical professionals to solve your sexual problem. It is more likely to be effective.
