What can be more satisfying than biting into a crunchy apple? Or imagine the sensation of sinking your teeth into a juicy pear…or the furry feel of a soft peach. What’s even better is to be able to pluck them fresh off a tree! Fruits undoubtedly bring a great deal of pleasure into our lives and most people enjoy eating them. All fruits look good, taste good and now we know for sure that fruit nutrition is good for you as well.

We are always tempted to dive into a basket of fresh fruit when we look at the red, shiny, crisp apples or luscious grapes or fat bananas. And it’s comforting to know that fruits are good for us! Apart from the fact that fruits are a natural food product, they are an integral part of any healthy diet. Different fruits have different nutritional qualities about them which serve to provide some very important nutrients to our bodies.

Fruits provide us with large amounts of Vitamin C, potassium, fiber and antioxidants that are very good for us. All these help us to maintain good skin, hair, energy and health. If you can just add a few pieces of fruit to your daily diet, you will experience the benefits in a very short while. Every time you eat a piece of fruit you are partaking of nature’s bounty that is ideal for your health.

Apples nutrition, for instance, is phenomenal. If you calculate the apples nutrition value you will find that although it only contains 80 calories, its fat content is zero. And each apple provides at least three grams of fiber out of your daily nutritional requirement of 20 grams. If you can ensure a high fiber diet you will reduce the risk of strokes and heart disease. You will also enjoy the joys of having glowing skin and shiny heart as added incentive. So maybe an apple a day does keep the doctor away!

Apples are best eaten fresh, although you can also have them stewed. Since apples get discolored once they are cut, you must use them right away if you want a juice, milkshake or smoothie. If you want to use apples in a fruit salad, do squeeze some fresh lime juice on them after cutting to prevent discoloration.

Banana nutrition, on the other hand, provides different benefits. Banana nutrition includes at least two grams of fiber in each banana, in addition to potassium in large quantities. It is an acknowledged fact that potassium ensures efficient functioning of your muscles and heart. The fiber serves to help your digestive system. Although the banana is a pulpy fruit and is slightly high in calories, its other advantages outweigh this factor.

Bananas can be consumed in a number of different ways. Apart from the obvious consumption of a fresh banana, you can also use bananas in milkshakes, smoothies, fruit salads or even fritters. Like apples, bananas also tend to get discolored once they are peeled. Do try to consume a banana every day with breakfast and supper to be really healthy.
