A Few Weight Loss Tips

Nutrition | September 22nd, 2009

There are many guidelines and rules of thumb that you can keep in mind. Doing so will increase your chances of success. So here are a few guides for you.

1. You don’t need to overeat just for the sake of emptying that plate. If you’ve had enough food, that is enough

2. Do not eat in front of the television. The television distracts your attention from your food. You won’t appreciate it as much as when you simply sit down. It will increase the risk of you going for a snack later on.

3. Do not ever leave your home while feeling starved. Before you leave the house, eat something that fills you up. A rice wafer with nut paste for example. These good fats will make you feel saturated especially if you down them with a glass of water.

4. Lay off the alcohol. Not only does alcohol contain a lot of calories, it can also affect your will power in a negative way.

5. Leave fatty foods out of your view so you don’t have to look at them the whole time. Better yet, don’t even buy them.

6. Don’t go shopping for food on an empty stomach. It will increase the risk of buying unhealthy things impulsively. It’s a good way to sabotage your weight loss attempts.

7. Should you eat out of the house, make sure to ask for sauces and dressings that are low on fat and calories.

8. A good way to suppress your appetite naturally, is by drinking water before a meal. You could also have non-cream soup first. Like water, soup fills you up with only very little calories. You can protect yourself from overeating.

9. Make it a rule in your own home that you only have meals in your dining room. Don’t fall prey to snacking every time you pass the food cupboard.

There are literally millions of rules you can be obeying. But sticking to a few dozen maximally should help you get where you want to go.

It takes persistence to get good results from a weight loss attempt. It is hard, I won’t lie to you. But it is also worth the effort.
