The 50th wedding anniversary is commonly known as the golden anniversary and is obviously one of the most celebrated as you’re recognizing and celebrating a whole half century in love with only each other (well hopefully.)

There are some common 50th wedding anniversary symbols/ideas so you can choose the right gift for your celebration. It should be made both personal and meaningful to the both of you.

The most traditional gift of course is something gold. Some ideas for gold and other ideas are as follows:
For the happy couple:

• A gold or imperial gemstone
• Golden topaz gemstone
• Renew your vows
• Enjoy a picnic and use golden paper napkins plates and cups
• Purchase tickets to one of your favorite events and wrap it up in a gold ribbon
• Plan a trip together, maybe the Gold Coast
• Put a special picture or a poem written in gold ink into a golden photo frame
• Make a compilation CD of songs from the era you got married in

For the children:

• Make a compilation CD of songs from the era your parents got married in including all those songs they loved but you might never have quite gotten
• Make a memory book for them, decorate the front in gold, include pictures of your parents from back then and maybe even some baby pictures of each of the children, could do it as a timeline of the past 50 years as well
• Make a family quilt with special memories, ask everyone to pitch in with their own square with all of the relatives or any of your parents close friends

This is a very special day and time. Make it special and do something special for your spouse or for your parents.
