The 25th anniversary is definitely a milestone in your marriage. Can you believe it, 25 years since you got married? This anniversary is commonly known as the silver anniversary. The tradition actually started back in Medieval Germany and once a couple had been married for 25 years a silver wreath was presented to tribute the couples 25 years of marriage being representative of the commitment and harmony that is needed to stay together that long.

Now down to brass tacks, some gift ideas:
For the couple:

• Purchase tickets to a favorite shared event and wrap it up with a silver ribbon or you can place the gift inside of a silver box
• Get a silver photo frame
• Plan a trip somewhere special, even maybe somewhere with silver in the title like Silver Sprints or Silverstrand Beach
• Silvery jewelry (anything liked)
• You could put together a music compilation of some of the best or favorite songs from that era
• Write a special poem for your partner, use silver ink and place it inside a silver frame to make it even that more special
• Renew your vows

For the children:

• You could put together a family quilt and ask every member or your parent’s close friends to make a square for it
• Make a CD for them of all that old music you don’t understand but they loved from back in the “old days”
• Make a memory book for them, decorate the front in silver, include pictures of your parents from back then and maybe even some baby pictures of each of the children

The silver anniversary is a very important one that should be marked both physically and emotionally in nature. Pick and do something special during this time, celebrate it.
