Win a Copy of the DVD That Every Woman Should See

Did you know?

APPALLING FACT: The US has the second highest infant mortality rate in the developed world.
APPALLING FACT: In the US, midwives attend about 1% of births (in the rest of the world, it is about 70-80%.) There is a connection - and mainstream medicine is missing it, to our great detriment.

Ricki Lake and Abby Epstein’s documentary, The Business of Being Born, is an eye-opening expose of how years of (mostly male-driven) American medical tradition, and the commercialization of health care has effectively veiled women from their natural abilities and wisdom. We are vastly unaware of our choices, our power, and the damage that unaware birthing is doing to our psyches and our social well being. What would you like to revolutionize?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

If you could rule for a day, make a decree for evolution, stir the ocean of social change…

The Art of Simple FoodCarrie says: Fast Food, Fast Food Values. Fast Food tastes good and is bad for you. There is no nutritional value in chicken nuggets. The most alarming ingredient in a Chicken McNugget is tertiary butylhydroquinone, or TBHQ, an antioxidant derived from petroleum that is either sprayed directly on the nugget or the inside of the box it comes in to “help preserve freshness.” According to A Consumer’s Dictionary of Food Additives, TBHQ is a form of butane (i.e. lighter fluid). Have you noticed that most litter on the street is junk food? I want to revolutionize the way we eat.

The Business of Being BornDanielle says: North America’s approach to birthing children must change - we’re approaching a crisis of consciousness that compromises not only women and children’s deep wellness, but the long-term health of our culture.

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

At the end of each day I ask “Have I moved closer towards my desires?” and I give thanks.  And each evening Danielle goes through her day, takes note and gives thanks.
